Covid-19 latest advice updated 24th March – All training and events off. Site closed

Dear all,

Unfortunately I have to announce: NO C&C TRAINING UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

As of 9am on 24th March, England Athletics updated their advice:

  1. Extending the suspension of all athletics activity in England to the 31 May. [Initially this had been agreed to the end of April]. This suspension includes all organised athletics activity in the UK, including all competitions, formal club activities, running groups, and all Education activity (coach, official, teacher).
  2. Strengthening our position on coaching activity – We are now mandating that all physical coaching ceases, and only be conducted via virtual means during this period. Bringing groups of people together to train, however small, can no longer be permitted under the strict ‘Stay at home’ measures implemented by the UK Government.

Please read their full advice. As well as including advice on staying fit, it also reminds people of the things you can do to stay safe. Social distancing and good hand washing are the two most important actions we can all take.

Additionally, the university took the decision to close the Wilberforce Road site from 5pm today (17th March) indefinitely.

This is disappointing but given the circumstances, understandable.

To help with your training, some coaches may be able to advice on exercises/activities you can do individually and we have posted some information here.

As you can imagine, none of us wanted this to happen. Extraordinary times call for extraordinary actions.

Stay safe

All the best,

Keith Clarke
