Valencia Marathon 2023

Valencia Marathon has grown in fame as one of the world’s fastest marathons – pancake flat, perfect conditions, and a stacked field. And it turned out to be fertile hunting ground for the intrepid C&Cers heading out to test themselves against 26.2 miles on Sunday 3rd December.

Leading the charge was Dom Jones with an incredible time of 2:18:15, running within two minutes of C&C’s club record. Fred Krylander has been in incredible shape recently and executed a perfect race to dip under the 2:30 mark with 2:29:52. Chris Kelly also bagged another time which qualifies for the London Marathon Championships (sub 2:40 qualifier for men) with 2:37:11. Axel Finke finished just ahead in 2:35:08.

Art Payne ran a smashing 2:40:40, just shy of championship time – an immense 8-minute PB which ranks him 28th in the UK’s U23 age category for marathon. Fantastic work Art!

There were also huge PBs for Dylan Ryan (2:44:25), James Rutland (3:22:22), Ellie Atkins (3:22:59), Thom Jenkinson (3:47:36), and Megan Jackson (4:12:10).

It’s fantastic to see all the hard work and training commitment in the dark, rainy evenings paying off with such outstanding performances. Congratulations all round!
