PETE’S POST – NOVEMBER 2023

The days are getting shorter as winter approaches, but there’s still plenty going on at C&C!

After a great month of relay running in October, there’s more to come in November. We have the National Cross Country Relays, and the Hereward Relays, and we have high hopes for C&C joy at both. Good luck to everyone taking part, have a great day!

And (remember, remember), 5th November, sees the second Frostbite League match at Nene Valley Park. We made a fine start to the season at the first match, so please support the team again if you can, and let’s build on that good initial result.

The club held a “Try out Track” evening last month. This was organised by Sarah Abramson, Richard Stayley, Nathan Graves, Pamela Abbott and others. Despite the awful weather on the evening, the event was still well attended, as the picture shows. This was a great initiative, but involved quite a lot of work, including promoting the event, and the Club, at Park Runs and such. Well done to all involved for making this such a success.

We had a wonderful Prizegiving Evening! It was great to see all the smiling faces of the youngsters, and the adults, as they were presented with their awards by our World Championship Silver Medalist, Callum Elson.

At the AGM there were a couple of committee changes. Gill Bridger stepped down as Welfare Officer, and we really thank Gill for all the work that she put in for the club in that role. Sarah Clarke has replaced Gill to become the Club’s new Welfare Officer. Also coming in is Stacy McGivern, taking up the “Without Portfolio” role on the Committee. We welcome Sarah and Stacy, and thank them very much for coming forward. The rest of the committee remains unchanged, other than Mo Park officially moving to the new role of “Operations Manager for Carver”. We also thank all of them for continuing to do a great job for the club.

Our Treasurer, Ed Hall, has kindly given us 12 months notice that he will be stepping down at the 2024 AGM. It would be great to get a replacement for Ed lined-up early on, so that there is plenty of time for the new person to “learn the ropes”. The Treasurer role would suit someone who has experience/knowledge of accountancy and/or book-keeping. If you are interested in helping the club with this, please let us know at: [email protected] or [email protected]

Have a wonderful November!
