Hockeys 5K – Royston and Overall Series Results

The fifth, and final, Hockeys 5k of 2022 was held on Therfield Heath on Wednesday 17 August 2022.  This was the first Hockeys event organised by Royston Runners, and their challenging, undulating course was an excellent way to end this year’s series.
There were 273 participants, 57 of whom were from C&C.  It was another strong performance from the club: for the women, C&C came 1st and 4th (Millie Wood and Joey Colley) and for the men we came 1st and 5th (Michael Gilbert and Fred Krylander).

Following the race, the final results were announced and awards handed out at The Sports Club Café.  With strong performances across all five races, C&C came first in all three categories:
Overall Male Results: 1st Cambridge & Coleridge, 2nd HI Runners, 3rd Newmarket Joggers
Overall Female Results: 1st Cambridge & Coleridge, 2nd HI Runners, 3rd Ely Runners
Overall Combined Results: 1st Cambridge & Coleridge, 2nd HI Runners, 3rd Ely Runners
Each club is also invited to nominate one of their male and female runners for an award. These are given based on a member’s performance, commitment, contribution and improvement across the series.  For C&C they went to Fred Krylander and Ank Mikhelson, who were extremely worthy winners.
Other important awards handed out on Wednesday: best runners in the series went to Tom Vickery and Emily Young, both from HI Runners. These are awarded to those that run the fastest times across all five events.  The inaugural ‘Good Egg’ award, sponsored by Kevin Henry, went to Tujan Sari from Haverhill Running Club – this is a non-performance based award that goes to the runner who has made a notable contribution to the league this year.
