EYAL first league match – young athletes run, throw and jump to success.

The club’s young athletes opened their outdoor track and field season with their first Eastern Young Athletes League (EYAL) match at Stevenage on the 14th April.

This league consists of five  matches with six teams taking part. It is for athletes from 11- 16 years old with each athlete competing in their own age group using weight and height specific implements and hurdles for their age group.

Each club has two scoring athletes in the majority of events with the opportunity for non scorers to join in as well. Athletics is often perceived as a solo sport but the club’s league matches are all about team spirit and earning points for your team. Every point really does count and every athlete regardless of ability is welcomed to the team, cheered on, valued and supported each time they compete.
