Anglia Ruskin / Danone Nutricia Research Opportunity

We are looking for healthy individuals who would like to take part in ground-breaking research here at Anglia Ruskin University investigating the health benefits of consuming plant-based proteins. We have partnered with Danone Nutricia Research (a world-leading nutrition company) for this study and looking for ~25 people who would be willing to commit to 4 two week trials over 2023 (starting from May). The study is relatively simple and will take place at the Cambridge Centre for Sport and Exercise Sciences at Anglia Ruskin University, East Road Cambridge. The study will involve 3 visits to our lab over each 2 week period, along with a bioavailability assessment of a protein drink (1 of 4 types containing either whey protein or different plant-based formulas). Alongside this we will also be assessing how different protein drinks that might be used for exercise training can affect your gut bacteria (microbiota). There are some key inclusion criteria for this study, the main ones being that you need to be in good general health, age between 18-50 years, and have a healthy weight (Body mass index of 18-25 kg/m2) and not on any current dietary regime (e.g. vegetarian/vegan/paleo/ketogenic/high protein diet or a weight loss program). We plan to hold a full study briefing and pre-screening sessions over March and April ahead of starting the study in May. For those selected, you will also be paid travel expenses and related study costs, as well as learning more about your dietary intake and how protein consumption affects your gut. We will also provide you with free body composition assessment as part of the study. If you, or any of your colleagues/members would like to find out more or take part, please email Dr Justin Roberts on [email protected] by the 14th March 2023.
