Young Athletes’ Representative

As the competitive season and young athlete matches start in earnest in the next few weeks it seems perfect timing to introduce the committee’s young athlete representative, Jenny Leggate. Jenny’s role on the committee is to voice the opinions and vision of the younger members of the club.

Jenny is an under 17 athlete who has been running for C&C since she was 10. Jenny started like many young athletes do, by competing at different events in league matches to gain valuable points for the team or to experience different events before deciding what they enjoy most.

Jenny now trains with Ric’s middle distance group of under 17 girls focusing on 1500m and 3000m. She also enjoys participating in cross country during the winter months.

In addition to competing for the club, Jenny has also competed for Cambridgeshire Schools at the English Schools’ Cross Country Championships. Jenny’s recent achievement was running a 3000m at Harrow with her training partner Ellie Loosley. Both athletes ran superbly with times comfortably under the English Schools’ 3000m standard.

If any young athletes have any suggestions how the club can improve or have any ideas for what they would like to see happen please speak with Jenny directly or to one of the club contacts who will pass your details onto Jenny. Remember, it is your club and we value your opinions.
