Wimpole Belts 10K

The evening of Wednesday 20th July saw the return of the annual Wimpole Belts 10k run and picnic, after a Covid enforced hiatus. We were lucky with the weather after the previous two extreme days, with it being just cool enough to run and then just warm enough to have a picnic afterwards. An unprecedented 108 runners turned up, which after expenses, allowed us to make a donation of £375 to Wimpole Estate as a thank you and to support their conservation work.

As well as C&C runners, we had guests from HI Runners, Royston Runners and Meridian Tri Club, to name but a few. Thank you to the volunteers who helped keep everyone safe.

As it is a bit of fun and a social we do call it a run, rather than a race, but we did have a few prizes. First male was Conor Flanagan from CTC in 37:35 and first lady was Becky Wright from Meridian Tri Club in 40:27. First male veteran was Paul Veitch (C&C) 40:09 and first ladies veteran was Sarah Wightman (C&C) in 45:35. Well done to all on what is a challenging rolling off-road, yet scenic, course. It was great to meet so many first timers to Wimpole, who were all very positive and enjoyed it.

It is hoped this will become an annual event and the estate is very supportive of it.
