Volunteers Needed – Cambridge Half Marathon Sunday 3rd March 2019

Hope you don’t mind me emailing and apols if this is a bit out of the blue!

BBC Cambridgeshire are media partners with the Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon on Sunday 3rd March 2019 and we need a little bit of help from volunteers to help cheer, clap, wave and hand out water to the runners!

If you have anyone who might be interested would really appreciate them getting in touch with me.

Volunteers need to be in position by approx. 0830 on Sunday 3rd March at Magdalene Bridge Water Station in the centre of Cambridge. They finish around 12pm. We will have a radio car there and one of our reporters, Andy Abbott will be doing live hits into BBC Radio Cambridgeshire on the day and may well include (as long as they’re happy to!) cheers, whoops and dedicataions from the volunteers.

Each volunteer gets a funky Cambridge Half Marathon jacket, lunch and as many gels as they want (!) and a fantastic feel-good experience. Volunteers who have done it in the past with us have just been incredible and as someone who has ‘run’ (I use the term very loosely!) the half twice, the cheering of the volunteers as they yell out your name is just incredible and I know that it helped me get round!

If you do have anyone who is interested would be great to hear from them so please do pass on my details! Happy to give tours of BBC Radio Cambs by way of thanks or can do a number on getting a foot in the door in the media world to students or linked groups? Any help we’d really appreciate – we need around 12 volunteers so it would be great if you could pass this onto runners with your club?

Any questions, please just give me a bell!

All best Emmab
