View from the Chair – September 2019

Another long, hot summer is coming to an end, despite being holiday season I’m reminded by the website news just how many competitions happen in August.

To pick just one result seems unfair but the whole club should applaud the women’s team of Lucy Dowsett, Rebecca Hair and Holly Archer who are now National 5 Mile Road champions!

The men’s team of Jack Gray, Oliver Park and James Dunce achieved a brilliant second place. Holly won an individual Gold, Jack a silver and Lucy a Bronze. Well done all – see the August achievements post for more great performances in August.

The creation of the Young Athletes Academy at the beginning of the season has been a big success with the club qualifying for the finals in the EYAL and all age-groups for the EAL – the first time in many years. All the best to the athletes at the finals in September.

The track and field season is drawing to a close but I’d encourage everyone to consider having at go at the Eastern and Cambridge Multi-events competition at Peterborough on 29th September. Entry details here –  though entry closes shortly.

Finally, dates for the diary:

* Thursday 12th Sept, 6:30 – Supporters Club meeting at the Pavilion. Your club needs you

* Monday 7th October evening – Prize Giving; invitiations coming soon

* Tuesday 26th November evening – Annual General Meeting

All the best
