Autumn’s here and the Track and Field season is over, albeit somewhat shortened. I want to thank Steve Green who with Noel Moss’ continued help has taken over the organisation of our Track and Field competition organisation this year. Also a big thank you to all the Officials and Team Managers who made the events possible. For our track and field athletes now’s the time to get stuck into winter training to come back stronger and faster for next year.
However, C&C’s season is never done as we move immediately into the winter cross country events with the Friendly Frostbite League starting on 24th October at St Neots with the first physically together races since the beginning of 2020.
In September C&C had excellent results for both the men and women’s teams in the Round Norfolk Relay held on 18/19th Sept with some fantastic individual running too – see the report here. Also please see our report on our own Cambourne 10k which ran successfully on Sunday 26th Sept – a big thank you to Gordon Aspin, the Race Director, and the many others who stepped up to help ensure the race could happen smoothly. This is a really important event in C&C’s calendar as it raises funds for the grant giving C&C Trust – for more information about this, see the C&C Trust tab on the website. We’ve taken steps recently to clarify the applications process and have updated the C&C trustee guidelines for approving grants.
Finally, I have now sent out an AGM notice which we are planning to run with our prize giving on Monday 1st November, either at site Wilberforce Road site or the Sports Centre (To be confirmed). Please put this evening in your diaries – the prize giving celebrates our strongest athletes as well as junior participation; and the AGM is where you get to elect the committee members. Both are important !
All the best,
