View from the Chair – December 2019

Dear members,

Winter is finally here! So say the Wimpole parkrun organisers – we started on the winter course on 30th November this year – it was a colllddd one. This time of year also means Sportshall competition for our younger athletes, the Frostbite league and winter training schedules for the Track ‘n’ Fielders among us. Winter certainly doesn’t mean no athletics for the keen and/or foolhardy.

The fact that I’m writing this, demonstrates that once again you have put your faith in me to be your chair for another year – I’m honoured, thank you. The AGM was held on 26th November and write up can be found here which contains important information about the club subscriptions for 2020.

I will do my best to run the club for the benefit of all the many different constituents, though we will continue to put a special emphasis on two areas in particular: firstly improving the experience and participation of our younger athletes joining the club at the junior academy; and secondly on providing excellent para athletics opportunities.

Finally, something to put in your diaries post Christmas: if you’re looking to run off some calories from Christmas Day, then come to the traditional 4 mile Boxing Day run, starting at the track entrance by the outer car park – get there for 10:45 for a 11am prompt start.

Enjoy the holiday period.

Regards,

Keith, Chair (for another year at least)
