Thomas Keen runs a sub four minute mile

Thomas Keen has broken the 4 minute mile barrier for the first time and smashed his own mile club record. Thomas ran a time of 3:59;56 at the track at Birmingham University where he is studying. The club record stood at 4:11.5 which Thomas set in 2019 as an U20 athlete.

A mile is 1600m and a sub four minute mile was first run by Roger Bannister in 1954 at Oxford University’s Iffley Road track. Since then a sub four minute mile is as a bench mark  for middle distance athletes.
