EYAL – Cambridge 2nd June 2019

Our young athletes finished in second place in the third league match. This result leaves C&C one place away from qualifying for the plate final in September. There are two matches left this season.

Polina Frakina continued her great form this year with a win in the U13g long jump. She jumped 4.53m which was very close to her PB and club record that she set at the County Championships.

Another strong performance in this age group was Willow Wallman who is continually improving in the discus with a throw of 18.95m which was nearly 6m ahead of the second placed athlete.

Jessica Welham also threw a PB in the U15g hammer throw in her first competition of the season. Alice Lord and Imogen Hunter both threw PB’s in the U17w Javelin finishing second in the A string and first in the B string respectively.

On the track, U17w Leila Queen and Rebecca West secured maximum points in the 800m. Matthew Smith also had a first place finish in the U13m 800m with a PB of 2:18.8 to rank him 15th in the country. Liam Conway and George Christmas won both the A string and B string with Sam Russell winning the non scoring race in the U13b 1500m.

Well done to all of the young athletes that competed and contributed vital points for the team. Please continue to support the club so that we can hopefully qualify for the plate final.
