A View from the Chair, Keith Clarke February 2019

Our biggest change to the club training patterns for many years: the introduction of our brand new Junior Academy on Monday evenings, starting 25th Feb. This is a big step forward for the club with the goal of providing a better experience and progression path for our young athletes; and, we hope, it will allow athletes and parents/carers to connect more closely with the club. It’s early days but please give it all the support you can.

A quick note of thanks to all those who stepped forward to volunteer for the club after my email in February. By building a bigger team, we can cover for each other and put less burden on a few people. There’s more work to do and still a number of roles to fill – however this is a great start to building a more sustainable situation for a club as large as ours.

The new website has been undergoing a lot of behind the scenes development and testing. We are aiming to provide a much better navigation experience, a great calendar of events, up to date news and mobile friendly rendering. We believe it will be ready to be released during March – expect us to make a bit of a song and dance at the time. It’s another big step forward for the club.

Finally, all those hours and miles of winter training under your belt – the summer season is about to kick off. The cross country season is drawing to a close and the road running is starting : all the best if you’re running the Cambridge Half Marathon this weekend; and the first track and field outdoor competitions start in April too – best of luck to everyone taking part and have fun whatever you choose to do
