Veterans' track and field

Below are details about the EVAC league matches for C&C in 2010.

Team Manager, Carole Morris, has been able to negotiate us a place in a division which is better for closer venues/travelling so maybe we will be able to get more athletes out for each match this year and earn a few more points.  Please let Carole know on this This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , if you're able to compete.

There will be four Weds evening matches and a final in Bedford in September. Matches begin at 7pm.  Matches are:

Weds May 5th BEDFORD

Weds June 2nd CAMBRIDGE

Weds July 7th SANDY (Biggleswade/Hunts)

Weds Aug 4th MILTON KEYNES

Anyone who can come as a field judge, track judge or timekeeper, please also let Carole know.

Please note that to compete you need to be a member of EVAC as well as C&C. An electronic EVAC renewal/membership form is here.  Please make sure you get this sorted out before the first match.

Results

After the first match at Bedford on May 5th both our men's and women's teams are in 8th place overall (out of 13 and 12 teams respectively).

The first two teams in each division will go through to the final in September, plus the two next best teams (after points adjustments).

Here are the results of the Bedford match. Cambridge men are in 4th place at the moment in the Three Counties Division only 6 points behind Huntingdon in 3rd. Cambridge women are  3rd at the moment, 23 points behind Bedford, but if we have a good turnout at Cambridge both placings can be vastly improved! Please come and help fill lots of events, even if some are not your usual ones!! Hats off to our two throwers Phil Bramford and Frank Martin who bravely took part in the men's relay at Bedford and helped to gain us 3 well-earned points!!

The results of our second EVAC league match at Cambridge in June are available on this link, and the Summary so far on this one.

The results of our third EVAC league match at Sandy in July are here - summary of positions so far will follow.

The men's team only achieved 5th place this time as we had only 4 men taking part (well done to those four who were able to make it) - many of you were away or injured. We were only 3 points behind Biggleswade, but 38 behind Huntingdon! Women's team had a few more bodies with 7 taking part and managed 3rd place this time only 16 points behind Bedford.

I'll email details of the next match at Milton Keynes later this month and ask athletes to let me know if they can compete. Lets field the biggest team this season and fill as many events as possible!

The final (after the 4 league meetings) will be at Bedford on Sunday 5 September.

Carole
