Athletes aged 10 or under

Young athletes have different levels of physical and mental maturity from older athletes and their needs are different. We are keen to provide support appropriate to the needs of all young people. Athletes who are under 11 on the 31st August in the year of competition are not eligible to be full members of C&C but we have set up a number of Community Clubs to provide for them. The clubs are aimed at youngsters in school years 3 to 6 inclusive. Year 6 children are also eligible to join C&C as full members if they wish.

Community Clubs

The Community Athletics Clubs are intended to bring coaching in basic athletics skills – running, jumping and throwing – to young people who want to improve their ability, or to acquire some skills, and who, in some cases, might want to go on and take part in athletics competitions. In some of the clubs we hope it may also be possible to provide coaching for adults. The basic athletics skills are relevant to virtually all sports and it is not our intention to restrict membership only to those who want to pursue athletics very seriously. We hope that many people will be encouraged to go further but that is not a requirement.

Clubs are now established in Cambourne, Cambridge and Impington. We are not yet certain whether the Sawston club will be able to run again.  There is also a club in Linton, linked to our clubs but organised by Saffron Striders AC.  Contact details are below. We would like to involve young people in the clubs as much as possible, for example any young people studying for sports leadership qualifications could gain lots of valuable experience working with us in one of the clubs. It is also important to involve local people – usually parents of members – to make the clubs sustainable long term. Any one who is interested should get in touch with the club at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Cambs AA are running training courses for beginner officials on March 25th 2012 at Huntingdon. C&C urgently need people to assist with track judging, timekeeping and field judging. Its not difficult but we can't run league teams without enough officials. You can get more details from Noel Moss or from the County officials Sec cambsofficials@sky.com
