Cross Country leagues

 

Hertfordshire Sunday League

A series of 5 matches for runners over the age of 16. One race is run over a distance of 4-5miles. Courses are suitable for spikes. The standard of competition is considered tougher than those of the other two leagues. This can provide good preparation for county, regional and national championships. For this event, simply turn up in your club vest and run.

Frostbite Friendly League

A series of 6 meets providing a good introduction to cross country running. The 5-6 mile courses are a mix of road and off-road running not always suitable for spikes. The senior race follows a junior race of 1.5 miles. This is team event with 3 women and 7 men (1 girl and 4 boys) to score. For more details about transport see Run Cambridge.

For this event, simply turn up ready to run in your club vest. When you cross the finish line you will be given a card showing your overall finish position. Please pass this to the representative of the club who is scoring. If you fail to submit your card your name will not appear on the results and your place will not count towards the final score. The more the merrier. 

 

Ryston Runners Grand Prix

A series of 6 meets in the forest at Shouldham Warren, nr Wissey. U9 - U15 run the same distance at each meet. The senior and U17 event is run over three distances - see below. Prizes are awarded to each age group and gender at each meet. This provides plenty of incentive for everyone. To be considered in the Grand Prix competition runners must complete one of each distance. A nominal entry fee of £2 for juniors and £4 for seniors is payable by 10.30am on the day. There is a trophy for the most improved club.

NOTE: arrive an hour before your event starts to register - it can be busy especially at the start of the season.

Congratulations to Ed Aston who took Bronze in the UKA Senior Indoor 800m championship, and to Ben Kelk who made the final of the 60m high Hurdles.

Well done also to Katie Reynolds, Jessica Fox and Hollie Parker for their gold medals in the ECAA championships, to Catriona Marriot for her silver and bronze (200m and 60m), and to Ben Snaith for his silver (400m).

Well done to Joseph Ebanks, who qualified as an individual for the National final of the under 15 Boys Sports-hall allrounder competition.

Congratulations to Hollie Parker for her double gold in the SEAA Indoor championships, and also to Oliver Cantrill (gold), Louis Rawlings (Silver) and Ben Kelk (Bronze).

A huge success for C&C in the Cambs AA crosscountry championships - winning first team in most of the age-groups and 2nd team in the others, and a number if individual winners. Well done everyone who competed.

Young athlete's training moves to the track on 5th March; U13s from 6.30, U15s from 7.00. Check precise times with your coach.

Cambs AA are running training courses for beginner officials on March 25th 2012 at Huntingdon. C&C urgently need people to assist with track judging, timekeeping and field judging. Its not difficult but we can't run league teams without enough officials. You can get more details from Noel Moss or from the County officials Sec cambsofficials@sky.com.
